It’s never been easier to get online. These days you can have a website up and running within hours. But if you need a customised site with content that you own, you may need to hire a web developer.
How we build a website – from plan to launch date
If you have ever designed a website, you will know how much time it can take. From the planning stage to the website launch, it often takes longer than you think. Having a clear idea of the steps involved can save time and money down the track. Every project we work on is different, but the process we use is the same.
Step 1. Free Consultation
The first thing we do is chat with you about the project, in person or via Skype. We look at your existing website, if you have one, and discuss what you want to achieve. This enables us to see the size and scope of the project. When we have all of the requirements, we send through an outline of the project and a quote.
Step 2. Planning
We combine your ideas and requirements with our research. We look at your business and your industry. We perform keyword research to find out what your customers are searching for online. We create a visual map and a wireframe that outlines the navigation, page elements and features.
Step 3. Designing
We create mock-ups of your new site to ensure styling is consistent with your brand. If you need design work done, we can help with that too. We will meet again at this stage of the project, and step you through the design. Before we start building the site, PDF drafts are sent through for you to look over and approve.
Step 4. Building
We create your website using WordPress and the Genesis Framework on a local server. WordPress is a content management system that allows you to make changes to your content. At this stage, we insert images and content or use placeholders that can be updated down the track. We can also assist with content writing, editing, graphic design and SEO.
Step 5. Hosting and Setup
If you do not have a domain name or hosting, we can walk you through the process. We also offer monthly maintenance plans that keep your site up to date and running smoothly.
Step 6. Training
We provide a comprehensive handover of your new website and offer support following the launch. We provide you with tip sheets and notes on how to update your content and promote your site.
Step 7. Website Launch
Time to pop the champagne cork!
